The shortlist for the 2017 World Car Awards has been announced and we now know the three remaining contenders in each of the six categories. In a decision that reflects the increasing dominance of SUVs in the global car market, the flagship 2017 World Car of the Year award will go to either the Jaguar F-Pace, the Audi Q5 or the Volkswagen Tiguan.
Jaguar’s F-Pace is the only car on the planet that can win two prestigious trophies at the 2017 World Car Awards prize-giving ceremony in New York next month. The SUV qualifies as a top 3 finalist in the World Car Design of the Year and the overall World Car of the Year categories. There’s also good news for McLaren as its 570S earns top 3 status in the World Performance Car class, alongside the Audi R8 Spyder and the Porsche Boxster/Cayman.
Following on from this shortlist announcement at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the winners in each category will be crowned at the New York International Auto Show on April 13 2017. Votes from 75 international jurors determined the shortlist and we don’t have long to wait to discover the winners.
